Top Skin Flashcards

Welcome to our skin flashcards! Your skin is the soft outer covering your body. In mammals, the skin is an organ made of multiple layers of tissue and protects the underlying muscles, bones, ligaments and internal organs. The skin is the first line of defense from external factors. For example, the skin plays a key role in protecting the body against pathogens and excessive water loss. Its other functions are insulation, temperature regulation, sensation, and the production of vitamin D. In our skin flashcards we cover important topics such as their functions in homeostasis, osmoregulation, layers of the skin, and skin lesions.

We ask tough questions like “Explain what happens at skin during heat homeostasis.” and “What is the grainy sublayer between the stratum lucidum and stratum spinosum?” and even questions like “What is the superficial thickening in the epidermis?” Be sure to check out these flashcards for even more information!
