What does Sequence Activities Mean?
This is taking our activities that we have defined and decompose into a logical sequence of events. For example: you must build the foundation prior to building on it. So how do you get there?
What do you need for developing you Activity Sequence?
You must have the Activity List and Activity Attributes that was produced in the first time management process. This was the Activity Definition Process.
Acitivities is Defined as What?
This is a Predecessor Network or Precedence Diagram. That is to say we are specifying the Dependencies between Activities.
What is a Dependency?
One is supported upon another. For example: B can't start until A is complete. Like drywall must be complete before you can paint it.
What is PDM or Precedence Diagram Method?
This is Activity Sequencing. This simply arranges the project work visually. Like a blueprint. The PDM contains Nodes which contains the activities and then they are connect with arrows which represents the relationship & dependencies of the Work Packages.
What is the INPUT that you need to do a PDM?
You need the Activity LIst, Activity Attributes and Scope Statement.Infomation, Leads and Lags and Schedule Template.
If we have a outline of our Organizations scheduling Procedures what do we follow?
We follow the OPA - Which is the Organizational Process Assests.
What are the Tools and Techniques used for Activity Sequencing?
The Techniques are Precedence Diagramming, Dependency Infomation, Leads and Lags and Schedule Template.
What is meant by Lead?
Lead is considered to be a negative time. What this means is you are bring the task closer to the project start date. Lead subtracts time between activities.
What is meant by Lag?
Lag is considered to be positive time. What this means is you are taking the task and moving it away from the start date. Lag Adds time between activities.
What is a Schedule Template?
These are similar previous projects when they are available. The templates not only contain the activities but also the precedence relationship. NOTE: We can use the templates for the whole project or parts of a project.
We have 3-kinds of dependencies please name them?
Mandatory Dependency, Discretionary Dependency and External Dependency.
What is meant by Mandatory Dependency?
Mandatory Dependency is required by the nature of the work. Example: YOU must have a computer before you can test the computer. Must have a foundation before you can build on it!
What is meant by Discretionary Dependency?
The Preferred order of activities. PM should adhere to the order and document the LOGIC behind the ordering. The D.D. happen in a preferred order because of best practices, conditions may be unique to the project. This is known as SOFT LOGIC.
What is meant by the term Soft Logic?
Soft logic is used when incorporating discretionary dependency. It is just another name for Discretionary Dependency.
