The modern system of communication has converted the world into a global village . the telecommunication merged with computers form an integrated networks through the internet which is the largest electronic network . it has made our day to day life and work more comfortable . we can use the device to send e-mails or book railways , airways or even cinema tickets . it has become part of our daily life . the artificial satellites placed in the earth’s orbit has brought revolutionary changes in the field . these satellites are also controlled by computer.

The advantages of roadways are: a. it is the cheapest and quickest means of transport for short distance . b. roads are easy to construct even in rough terrain and in forested area c. it is very suitable for transporting fragile and perishable goods d. roads are conveniently link farms to the industrial centers and markets e. the cost of developing the roadways is less than that of railways f. the road transport can deliver goods right to the door of the consumers .

Inland waterways:rivers , canals and lakes are important inland waterways .boats and steamers are used as means of transport .the development of inland waterways is dependent upon width and depth of channel ,continuity in the flow of water and transport technology.eg. ganga-brahmaputra river system and great lakes in north america

ocean routes:they offer free highway in all directions.they are used for transporting goods from one country to another.ships are used as means of transport.eg.north atlantic route , south atlantic route etc

Telecommunication:through telecommunication we can communicate with people in almost every part of the world.

internet:through internet we can not only interact with the people visually but we can get all kinds of information fro it
