What is Physical health?

-Body Shape and Size
-Sensory acuity -Susceptibility to disease and disorders -Body functioning -ability to recuperate -ability to perform ADL's (Activities of Daily Living) |
What is Occupational Health?

-Personal satisfaction from careers or stages of career development
-Balance between work/school and personal life |
What is Spiritual Health?
|
-Can involve a belief in a supreme being
-The deepest and most innermost part of someone -Helps you unterstand the world and your role in it -A belief that someone uses to draw hope and strength from -beliefs, ethics, and morality -**Can also relate to social and environmental health |
What is Social Health?
|
-The ability to have satisfying interpersonal relationships
-Interacting with others -adapting to various social situations -communication skills (especially with new people) |
What is Envitonmental Health?
|
-Appreciation of the external environments and the role we play in protecting, preserving, and improving it.
-How happy you are with where you live -Being aware of things happening in the world around you -** Can also crossover with mental and spiritual health |
What is Emotional Health?

- The "feeling" componenet
- The ability to express emotions and reacting appropriately -Includes feelings of self-esteem, self-confidence, self-efficacy, trust, love, etc |
What is Mental Health?

-Ability to think clearly, reason objectively, analyze citically
-using the brain effectively to meet life's challenges -learning from success and failures -making responsible decisions -manage stress productively -can cross over with spiritual health (beliefs, morality) |

What is sleep?

-a period of reduced activity
-results in decreased responsiveness to extermal stimuli -a state that is relatively easy to reverse |
What are the reasons for sleep?

-to rest, rejuvinate, and repair the body
--many functions of sleep, no primary function |
What is the sleep INACTIVITY THEORY?

-Humans remain inactive and quiet in their most vulnerable time (night b/c human have impaired night vision)

What is the sleep ENERGY CONSERVATION theory?
|
-Saving energy for the daytime for hunting/surviving
-Less energy is expended during sleep |
What is the sleep RESTORATIVE theory?
|
-During sleep, the body repairs and recovers tissues and body functions
