-Dorsal to the oral cavity-Contains 3 openings: -glottis: opening through which air passes on its way to the trachea (windpipe) and to the lungs *epiglottis covers the glottis -opening to the esophagus: a portion of the digestive tract that leads through the neck and thorax to the stomach -nasopharynx: leads to the nasal passages
