Front Back
Diffusion
Movement of particles from an area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration.
Concentration
The amount of a substance in a given space.
Selectively permeable membrane
A membrane that allows some materials to pass through it but keeps other materials out.
Equilibrium
In cells, a state in which there are the same number of particles on both sides of the cell membrane.
Osmosis
Diffusion of water particles through a selectively permeable membrane.
Solute
A solid, liquid, or gas that is dissolved in another solid, liquid, or gas to create a solution.
Solvent
A solid, liquid, or gas that dissolves another solid, liquid, or gas to create a solution.
