What are the commands that tell the computer what to do to get work done?

What is programming made up of?
Ones and zeros that the computer's hardware understands, enabling it to do amazing actions, such as perform powerful mathematic functions, move data, realize the mouse has moved, and put icons on the screen

What are applications?
The programs that get work done.
What are operating systems?
Software that enables you to start and stop an application, copy/move/delete data, talk to the hardware, and perform lots of other jobs.
The computer functions through what four stages?

What happens in the input stage?
You provide the computer with data, usually the keyboard and mouse.
What happens in, the processing stage?
The computer processes your data. Processing takes place inside the system unit, and happens almost completely at a hardware level.
What happens in the output stage?
The data that the computer has processed is displayed so you can see it, usually the monitor or printer.
What happens in the storage stage?
Saving the of the data from the output stage.
