They call Venus the sister planet to Earth because they are almost the same in size. But that is all they have in common.

And it doesn't have any seasons, it stays that hot year round. Speaking of years, a year on Venus is only 225 days long, that means Christmas would come sooner than here on Earth!

Another interesting fact about Venus is that spins on it's axis backwards. This means that on Venus, the Sun would rise in the West and set in the East. But it spins very slow, on Venus a day lasts longer than a year!

The mass of Venus is 4.87 x 10 to the 24th kilograms. and the density is 5240 kg per meter cubed. This means that it is just a little bit less dense than the Earth.

This is my diorama. It shows how it is very close in size to Earth. It also shows how close it is to the Sun. You can also see the color differences between Earth and Venus. Venus is yellow and red because of the gasses and lava that are on the planet.

Space missions have shown us that Venus is covered with over 1600 major volcanos, mountains, and huge lava plains. We can't see them from Earth because of the thick layer of gasses.
