Exposition |
The beginning of the story where the setting and characters are introduced. It serves as a background to the story.

Rising Action |
What leads to the main problem of conflict or conflicts in which suspense or interest may arise.

Climax |
When the problem or conflict reaches a high point; the action reaches its emotional peak.

Falling Action |
When the problem or conflict is being solved; all "loose ends" of the plot are being "tied up."

Resolution |
Concludes the falling action; the problem is resolved; the ending.
