1-10, pinyin first

1-10 most popular Mandarin Chinese characters.  Given pinyin, flip side of card has character and English translation.  Most are actually example words and/or phrases that contain the popular character as a component.  A few are characters visually similar to those more popularly used.  Having them in the list helps to differentiate between the two during the learning process so as not to confuse them later.  The larger font pinyin is the original character, and the smaller fonts are examples of its various uses.
