School
-learn broader perspective to help perpare them for life

-hidden curriculum. values that are not explicitly taught are apart of the schools message

Day Care
-the more hours a week spent at day care, the weaker the bonds between mother and child. The greater the behavioral problems
-Children who spend less time in day care are more affectionate to mom and more cooperative
-Children away from mothers are less likely to have emotional needs met and less sensitive towards them. They are more stressed.
-The more they spend in day care, the higher their language scores.
Religion
-Key compnent for right and wrong for most people.

Neighborhood
-try to move to a place where kids will be safe
-children from poor neighborhoods are more likely to get in trouble with the law, become pregnant. drop out of school, have a disadvantaged life.
-people in safer neighborhoods watch out for children more, know local children and parents, keep them out of trouble, adults are more careful around them
-poor neighborhoods have child abuse

Working Class
-Concerned about Children outward conformity
-Children have to be obedient, neat, clean, follow the rules and stay out of trouble
-make children obey. use physical punishment
-believe children should be like them
-some follow middle class child rearing.

Middle Class
-Develop kids curiosity, self expression and control
-concerned about motivation of kids behavior
-more likely to reason with children
-have more Independence in work and want kids to be like that.
Family
-have a major impact on us. (life long)
-lay down basic sense of self, establish initial motivation, values and beliefs. As sense of who we are and what we deserve
-stroller effect- the father pushes the stroller. if take child out. mother pushes the empty one and dad holds the kid
-parents teach children the difference between men and women through non verbal cues, not specific instruction
