Frontal lobe
Involved primarily in thought (cognitive functions) and planning movement (motor functions). contains the primary motor cortex and the prefrontal cortex.
Primary motor cortex
Part of the frontal lobe. projects info directly to the spinal cord to control muscles.
Prefrontal cortex
Part of the frontal lobe. involved in directing and maintaining attention, developing and acting on plans, creating directed and rational activity, understanding what others are thinking, abiding by norms, etc.
Parietal lobe
Involved primarily in touch and spacial relations. it judges the spacial relations between ourselves and other objects. it directs attention. contains the primary somatosensory cortex.
Primary somatosensory cortex
Part of the parietal lobe. involved with processing touch and sensory information.
Temporal lobe
Involved primarily with hearing and language. identifies complex visual patterns. plays a crucial role in learning and memory. contains the amygdala and hippocampus.
Occipital lobe
Involved primarily in vision. analyzes visual input and guides behaviour in accordance.
