Tissue-
A group of similar cells that work together to perform a specific job in the body.
Organ-
The combination of two or more tissues that work together to peform a specific function in the body.
Organ system-
A group of organs that work together to perform body functions.
Organism-
Anything that can independently carry out life processes.
Unicellular-
Made of a single cell.
Multicellular-
Made of many cells.
Population-
A group of indviduals of the same species that live together in the same area at the same time.
Community-
All of the populations of different species that live and interact in an area.
Ecosystem-
A community of organisms and there non-living enviorment.
Cell membrane-
A pholipid layer that covers a cells surface and acts as a barrier between the inside of a cell and the cells enviorment.
Organelle-
A structure within a cell sometimes surrounded by a membrane.
Cytoplasm-
Cellular fluid surrounding a cells organelles.
Nucleus-
The membrane-covered organelle found in eukaryotic cells ; contains the cells DNA and serves as a control center of the cell.
Prokaryotic cell-
A cell that does not have a nucleus or any other membrane-covered organelles; also called a bacterium.
Eukaryotic cell-
A cell that contains a central nucleus and a complicated internal structure.
