Why do leaves change color in the fall? |
The amount of daylight decreases causing the plant to cut off the supply of water and nutrients to and from the leaves. Causing the chlorophyll to die off and the other colors come out.
What are the three requirements for photo synthesis? |
Sun Energy + Water + CO2 -(Carbon Dioxide)
What are the products of photsynthesis? |
Glucose and oxygen
What happens to sunlight during photosynthesis? |
It's converted to chemical energy then stored as glucose which is then used in cell resperation.
What are chloroplasts and why are they so important to photosynthesis? |
They are organelles in all plant cells that contain chlorophyll and are the site of photosynthesis.
What is the equation for photosynthesis? |
Sun Energy + Water + Carbon Dioxide --> Glucose and Oxygen
What is the equation for cell respiration? |
Glucose + Oxygen --> Water + Carbon Dioxide + ATP Energy
What do roots absorb from the soil? |
Water and Nutrients
What is a thylakoid? |
Pancake like stacks in chloroplasts that contain chlorophyll.
What is chlorophyll? |
Green pigment in chloroplasts that absorb sun energy for photosythesis.
What is a stomata? |
Pores in a leaf that allow for gas exchange and moisture release.
How are photosynthesis and cellular respiration connected? |
The two processes are connected because they produce what the other process can use.
What is the main goal of photosynthesis? |
To produce Glucose
What is the main goal of cellular respiration? |
To produce ATP Energy.
Cells store energy in form of what? |
Glucose.
