STEP 1:

Checks
the air supply of the SCBA to ensure that the cylinder is 100% full.

STEP 2:
|
Slowly
opens the cylinder valve and listens for the low air alarm to activate as the
regulator pressurizes. If low air alarm does not activate, repeats step or
places unit out of servic
|
STEP 3:
|
Compares
the cylinder gauge to the regulator gauge to ensure they are within 100 psi of
each other.
|
STEP 4:
|
Checks
all hose connections. They are tight and free from leaks.
|
STEP 5:
|
Check
bypass
|
STEP 6:
|
Checks
condition of face piece for cracks, missing/broken straps, and that diaphragms
are in place. Ensure Cleanliness
|
STEP 7:
|
Check
the mask mounted regulator (MMR) to ensure air is flowing properly. Connect the
face piece to the MMR, inhale and exhale. Place back into service using the air
saver button
|
STEP 8:
|
Closes
cylinder valve and drains all air on system (manufacturers’ instructions).
Notes that low air alarm activates when regulator gauge reads 20% to 25%.

STEP 9:
|
Checks
harness assembly, condition of belts/straps, and cylinder fastening device.
|
STEP 10:
|
Checks
operation of PASS device. If PASS device is an integrated part of the SCBA
unit, check is performed in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions.
