Pt lies face-up, knees are drawn up and feet are flat on the table(physician can examine head, neck, chet, and heart)

Pt lies back on an exam table on which the head is ekevated at a 45 degree angle(best position for pt's with SOB)

Fowler's position |
Pt lies flat on the table, face down. head is turned to one side and his/her arms are placed at sides or bent at the elbow(physician can examine back, feet and musculoskeletal system)

Prone |
Pt lies on the left side, left leg is slightly bent and left arm is placed behind the back. right knee is bent and raised toward the chest, right arm is bent toward the head for support(used during rectal and certain pelvic exams)

Sim's |
Pt lies on table face down supporting the body with knees and chest, thighs at 90 degree angle. head is turned to one side and arms are placed to the side or above the head(used during exams of the anal and perineal areas)
