Oligarchy
Gov't where the rich rule, only a few wealthy citizens. Socrates is against this b/c it makes 2 different countries, the rich and the poor. These people love money and profit. They are scared of war b/c it costs too much money, so they give up the virtue of honor and become cowardly
Hegemony
Domintation. When reason has started to dominate. This stands for the age when philosophy and reason started to dominate Athenian culture.
Dialogue
Talk between two people, or between oneself. It is essentially giving said person a conscience. It is very important b/c dialogue means the leaders are becoming more rational and are using reasoning instead of war.
Sophist/sophistry
Traveling teachers of rhetoric. Basically the modern-day lawyers. They speak eloquently but say things of little true value, at least according to Socrates. He is against them b/c they teach us how to make a weaker argument stronger, which is exactly what Socrates is accused of, ironically enough.
Rhetoric
The art of making speeches
Stephanus numbers
The standardized numbers in the margins of Plato's works; they were added by a midieval scholar for reference purposes

Logos

Chaerophon

Delphi

Town in Greece, site of the famous Delphic oracle
Pythia
Mouthpiece of Apollo, she was the statue and main figure of Athens
Apollo
God that represents order, harmony and civilization like no other Greek god, he is very bright and rational, so obviously very important for these times of virtue change
Hubris
Arrogance. usually actions that would humiliate the victim in ancient Greece but give the abuser pleasure or gratification
Hoi polloi
The many and riffraff, they don't judge on knowledge but on pure chance. Socrates speaks unkindly of them b/c they do not made reasoned decisions, but more appetitive decisions that fit their needs and expectations
Discordant
Reason or being logical
