Salmonella Mac = non-lactose fermenter. (ONPG-). It shows H2S production on other selective media. -/+ with gas and H2S on KIA Citrate is positive for subgroup I except the typhoids Lysine+ Motile |
What Antigens can be present in Salmonella?
|

H antigen – flagellar antigen – floccular (Heat labile)
Vi or K antigen – capsular antigen or surface antigen. (heat labile)
Titers of 1:80 are suggestive and 1:160 significant. Look for 4 fold rise in titer.
