Condyle
Answer 1
The rounded articular surface at the end of the Mandible(Lower Jaw).It articulates with the Glenoid Fossa.
Glenoid Fossa
Answer 2
A deep concavity in the temporal bone at the root of the zygomatic arch that receives the condyle of the Mandible.
Tubercle
Answer 3
A slight elevation from the surface of the bone giving attachment to a muscle or ligament.
Working Side
*Mandible Moving Toward the Cheek* Condyle pivots within the socket and is better supported.
Balancing Side(nonworking side)
Answer 5
*Mandible Moving Toward the Tongue* Condyle's a downward orbiting path, travelling a greater distance in space. It's more prone to injury or damage.
Centric Relation(CR) - Chewing Cycle
A clinically determined position of the mandible placing condyles into their anterior uppermost position. It can be determined without pain in the TMJ.
Centric Stops
Answer 7
Look at the Image
Maximal Intercuspal Position
The complete intercuspation of the opposing teeth independent of condylar position*and sometimes do not depend on condylar position.
Laterotrusion
Condylar movement on the working side in the horizontal plane*working side.
Mediotrusion
A movement of the condyle medially*nonworking side.
Protrusive
Adj = protrusive; adv = protrusively, protrusiveness = noun. Means thrusting forward; adjective denoting protrusion.
Protrusion
A position of the mandible anterior to centric relation.
Centric Occlusion(CO)
The occlusion of opposing teeth when the mandible is in centric relation. i.e. SUPERIOR/ANTERIOR AND OCCLUSION.
Eccentric Occlusion
Any tooth contacts other centric occlusion. (i.e. working, balancing, protrusion).
Horizontal Overlap
When the max. teeth overlap in horizontal direction.
