Intro
Why should you vote for me to be an NJHS officer this year? Well because I have taken NJHS’s 5 principles to heart, which are Service, Scholarship, Character, Citizenship, and Leadership, and try to apply them to everyday life. I am always looking to improve myself in anyway. And by by looking back now i realize focusing on these five principles has made me a better person.
Service:
Service personally means giving back to people, any time you can, anywhere you can. You can go out into the community and help those less fortunate than you. For all you know It may make their day, or can even change their lives. Also going out into the community has helped make me more humble and taught me to appreciate what a great life i have at my home. Or you can help friends and family. I learned to appreciate the time with your friends and family as well.
Scholarship:
Scholarship personally means that in school you're in a competition with yourself. Always striving to get a better grade than you got last time, or going after every extra credit opportunity thrown your way, or striving to get even better grades on your report card the next quarter. I personally take exceptional pride in my school work whether it’s just notes, or homework , or a test, and i take advantage of every extra credit point i can get. And by doing those things i am usually pretty happy with my report card when it comes.
Character:
Character personally means what you do when the teacher is out of the room. Are you that one kid that starts jacking around or the one student who keeps working diligently? personally i believe that I am the diligent worker. And I am not afraid to stand up and tell anyone who is jacking around to knock it off and work even if it takes several times. I also believe that character is also about the decisions you make. I know the right choice isn’t always the easy choice but it usually turns out for the best in the long run.
Citizenship:
Means having pride about your school and not being afraid to share that with everyone you meet. Ever since I have attended Rapid Run I have been telling all my old friends and their families how awesome Rapid is and how much fun I have had here, and how we generally have super awesome teachers. I talked about it so much one of the families in our neighborhood has now decided to come to Rapid Run next year!
Leadership:
His means having the courage and self-confidence to be able to “guide” and make the right decisions for you, and others. Rallying up your baseball team in between innings. Or picking up your teammate in basketball. And even sticking up for a friend. I do these things quite often. Those small things represent leadership. But even though there small things, some people don’t have the self-confidence that others have to do these things.
Closing
Thanks for letting me speak to you today, and i hope you vote for me when the time comes!
