Mercury
-Closest to sun  -Inner and terrestial planet - shortest revolution  -No atomesphere  -No moons
Venus
- An inner and terrestrial planet -Called earth's "twin planet"- Hottest average temp  -No moons- Brightest object in sky -Atomesphere of sulfuric acid, carbon dioxide. -has greenhouse effect -rotates in opposite direction to earth and most other planets.
Earth
-Inner and terrestrial planet -largest of the inner planets -atomesphere of itrogen & oxygen -Can sustain life, 70% of surface is water -One sattelite, the moon. -Has greenhouse effect -Tectonically active
Mars
-Last of the inner & terrestrial planets. - Appeares reddish, desertlike surface -Has ice caps that are mostly carbon dioxide that melt and refreeze as the seasons pass -Two sattelites, Phobos & Deimos -Thin, dusty atomesphere composed mostly of C02 -May have dry riverbeds
Jupiter
-First of the Gas giants & an outer planet -Largest planet -less dense than earth -Has great red spot, an atomespheric storm -Has Belts and Zones  -Has small rocky core -Mostly made of hydrogen (inner core is metal hydrogen) - 4 moons, Callisto, Europa, Ganymede, Io  - Over 60 other satelites
Saturn
-Second of the Gas Giants & a outer planet -Similar to Jupiter in composition & structure -Lowest density of all planets - Has rings of icy rock -Many moons; 61 including Titon, which is half the size of earth.
Uranus
- Third of the Gas Giant & a outer planet - Has 15 moons (icy) -Atomesphere has blue haze due to methane gas -Has very faint rings  -Axis of rotation almost in line with the plane of it's orbit.
Neptune
-Fourth of the Gas Giants & an outer planet -Atomesphere has H, He and methane, which gives it a blue color. -Faint cloud bands - Warmer than expected -Eight known satelites, -Largest is Triton.
Pluto
-Farthest planet from the sun -Considered a Dwarf Planet - Orbital path crosses Neptune's -One sattelite, Charon -icy planet
