Aerial hyphae
A hypha that rises above the surface on which a fungal mycelium is growing; also known as a reproductive hypha because spores are produced on it.
Aseptate hyphae
Hypha that possesses few or no cross walls (septa); if present, septa are irregularly produced; the cytoplasm within an aseptate hypha is multinucleated; also known as a coenocytic hypha.
