MUN Chair Speech

Greetings fellow delegates, I am Diya Mehta and I shall chair todays discussion with the support of Wesley Mcloughlin, the Co - chair.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Overseas Family School, 2012 Model United Nations. The current topic of discussion is ( pause ), Should Fossil Fuels be banned by 2015 to help reduce Acid Rain.

As we all know, that burning of fossil fuels is one of the major causes of Acid Rain. There has been an on - going world wide debate for many years of whether or not fossil fuels should be banned. There are various aspects to this subject, each of them arguing for and against the ban.

Each of your countries have chosen you to represent their views on the subject. During the course of this discussion each of you will be given an opportunity to put forward your nations opinion in the matter.

Decisions that we make will not only affect us, but also the generations that follow.

I would also like to remind the respected delegates that the path we choose to pursue, has to be one that meets the objective which is, to reduce acid rain, ( PAUSE ) BUT at the same time the action and the timeline must be something that we can achieve.

Despite us all representing different countries, today we are all one team collaborating to resolve a common problem . Hence I request all to respect the thoughts and views of each-other.
