Are ye a MM?
I am
What makes ye a MM?
My obligation
Where were ye made a MM?
In a legally constituted lodge of AF & AM, working in the 3rd degree.
Where were ye prepared?
In a room adjoining a legally constituted lodge of AF & AM, working in the 3rd degree.
How were ye prepared?
The same as in the precedinhg degree except both knees & breasts were bared, hoodwinked with a cable tow 3 times around my naked body, inwhich condition I was led to a door.
Being hoodwinked, how did ye know it was a door?
By 1st meeting with resistance, afterwards gaining admission.
How did ye gain admission?
By giving 3 distinct knocks from without, which were answered by a like number from within, with the question "Who comes here?"
Your answer?
AJE a worthy brother who has been regularly initiated as an EA, passed to the degree of FC and now prays further light in Masonry by being raised to the sublime degree of MM.
What was then asked ye?
Was it of my own free will and accord that I made this request, was I duly & truly prepared & had I made suitable proficiency in the preceding degree. All of which being answered in the affirmative, I was asked by what further rite I expected to gain the benefit of this degree.
Your answer?
By the rite of a password.
Had ye the password?
I had it not, but my conductor gave it for me.
What were you then told?
To wait a time with patience until the WM was informed of your request and his answer returned.
What was his answer?
Let him enter and be received in due form.
How were ye received?
Upon both points of the compasses extending from my naked left to right breast, which was to teach me that as the vital parts of a man are contained within the breasts so are the most excellent tenants of our institution contained between the points of the compasses which teach friendship, morality & brotherly love.
Where were ye then conducted?
3 times around the lodge that the WM & brethren might see that I was a man duly & truly prepared meeting with obstructions in the S., W., & E where the same questions were asked & like answers given as at the door.
