Extends up from the cecum to the under surface of the liver

Transverse Colon

Passes across to the left toward the spleen & then turns down to the descending colon

Passes downward through the left hypochondrium & lumbar regions, along the lateral border of the left kidney

Sigmoid Colon
|
Shaped like and "S". Begins at the distal end of the descending colon & leads into the rectum.

Liver

Located in the RUQ of the abdomen manufactures thick, orange-black, greenish fluid called bile.

Bile

Contains cholesterol, bile acids & several bile pigments

Bilirubin
|
Released by the liver in bile (a pigment of bile)

An enzyme that breaks down starch and is secreted fro the pancreas
