|
Physical, verbal, or nonverbal behavior w/ the intention to cause harm or increase social dominance

Attachment
|
Emotional bond to another person & usually refers to bond between child & caregiver. 4 types:

Secure Attachment
|
Requires consistent caregiver, child feels comfortable to go out & explore, using caregiver as secure base. Child shows strong preference for caregiver, but can be comforted by others as well

Avoidant Attachment
|
When caregiver has little or no response to distressed, crying child; child shows no preference for the caregiver compared to strangers

Ambivalent/Anxious Attachment
|
When caregiver has inconsistent response to child's distress, sometimes responding appropriately, sometimes neglectful; child becomes distressed when caregiver leaves & is ambivalent when he or she returns

Disorganized Attachment
|
Caregiver is erratic or abusive; child shows no clear pattern of behavior in response to caregiver's absence or presence & may show repetitive behaviors (ex: rocking back & forth)
