What is NASW and what do they do?

They advocate for social workers and the profession, CODE OF ETHICS, liability insurance for social worker, they look at the pay scales, workers (Blanket coverage for interns) they can take away your license, and lots of certifications can be recieved through this.

Danger is going to happend and we need to protect them
Imiigrant, HIV, make sure w/minors that the person your infroming isn't apart of the problem
Strengths Perspective
Focus on the strengths and what our clients are doing well and TELL THEM! Keep that right up front and we use that with our treatment plans
Helping Process
1. Engagement
Try and imagine where the client is before they come in and how the client feels and what they are going through
2. Interviewing
Dialoge with a purpose, listening, and getting to know the client, learn about them and their story
3. Assessment
clients want to know (1) you care about them (2) understand them (3) competent to help
4. Treatment plan
Make sure you draw up the plan with the client so that they agree to the treatment and how they are going to get there
5. Implement-intervention-begin to work on the plan
6.evaluation
7. terminate- JOINT DECISION
