“Whatever the mind of Man can Conceive and Believe it can achieve it.” –Napolean Hill
Thoughts become powerful when combined with a definite desire, a stated purpose and persistence. Successful people think themselves into the realization of their goals. People who think and grow rich know that riches begin with a state of mind and with definiteness of purpose, with little or no hard work. Thoughts can be transformed into material rewards by the application of known principles. This is how you translate your desire into reality.
“Through some strange and powerful principle of ‘mental chemistry’ which she has never divulged, nature wraps up in the impulse of strong desire “that something” which recognizes no such word as impossible, and accepts no such reality as failure.” –Napolean Hill
There are 6 basic steps for turning your desire into success. 1. Be definite as to the amount of money you desire in your mind 2. Determine exactly what you plan to give in exchange for this fortune 3. Establish a definite date as to when you plan to possess this money. 4. Create a definite plan for carrying out this desire and put the plan into action, whether you are ready or not. 5. Write down steps 1-4 in a clear concise manner 6. Read your statement about twice a day, first in morning, then in evening, and imagine yourself in possession of money as you read.

“The missing link in all systems of education may be found in the failure of educational institutions to teach their students how to organize and use knowledge after they acquire it.” –Napolean Hill
Knowledge gains value only when it is applied towards a worthy goal. Knowledge becomes power when it is organized through defined plans of action and directed to a stated goal. Specialized knowledge, not general knowledge, is necessary for accumulation of money. Before you are able to transform desire into its monetary equivalent, you will need to have specialized knowledge of the service, merchandise or profession which you intend to offer in return for riches. However, this specialized knowledge does not need to be in possession of the person accumulating the fortune.

“Man’s only limitation within reason, lies in his development and use of his imagination.” –Napolean Hill
All plans created by mankind are first fashioned in the imagination; therefore, people can create anything that they can imagine. There are 2 types of imagination; synthetic and creative. Synthetic imagination allows one to reconfigure old ideas and concepts into new combinations, but doesn’t create anything. Creative imagination occurs when conscious mind is stimulated through the emotion of a strong desire, allowing the reception of inspiration and new ideas. Geniuses learn how to draw upon creative imagination when synthetic imagination doesn’t get the job done.

“Success requires no explanations. Failure permits no alibis.” –Napolean Hill
Never be so tied to a plan, that you are not willing to adopt new ones if previous ones fail. If your plans fail, remember that temporary defeat is not a permanent failure. It is important that you accept defeat, if and when it comes, as a signal that your plans are not sound. Instead of giving up, rebuild your plans and continue striving toward your desired goal.

“I visualize the Master Mind as a formless, boundless reservoir of thought-vibration.” –Napolean Hill
No one person has sufficient experience, knowledge and ability to accumulate a great fortune without the cooperation of other people. When translating your desire into the realization of riches, it is necessary to have a directed and definite plan. Form a “Master Mind” alliance with a group of as many people necessary to meet your goal. Decide what advantages you can offer the group in return for their participation, as well as what type of compensation. Arrange for the group to meet at least 2 times a week or more, until the group has come up with necessary plan for success. Be sure to, maintain harmony between yourself and every member of “Master Mind” alliance.

“The successful leader must be in sympathy with his followers. Moreover, he must understand them and their problems.” –Napolean Hill
While it is no disgrace to be a follower, it is no achievement to remain one. Intelligent followers acquire knowledge from their leader and thus, develop into leaders themselves. Important factors in leadership include: courage, confidence, self-control, a sense of fairness, decisiveness, definiteness of plans, going above and beyond the job description, a pleasing personality, sympathy, understanding, attention to and mastery of detail, willingness to assume responsibility and cooperation. Negative attributes of leadership that lead to failure are: disorganization, reluctance to perform a job ‘beneath” them, lack of imagination, selfishness, disloyalty, emphasis on rank or authority, fear of competition with followers, salary expectations not commensurate with their actions or performance.
“One of the major points I am trying to emphasize through this entire philosophy is, we rise to high positions or remain at the bottom because of conditions we can control, if we desire to control them.” –Napolean Hill
The majority of people who fail to accumulate money sufficient for their needs are, generally, easily influenced by the opinions of others. They permit newspapers and gossiping neighbors to do their thinking for them. Opinions are the cheapest commodities on earth. Keep in mind the fact that every person whom you associate is, like yourself, seeking the opportunity to accumulate money. If you talk about your plans too freely, you may be surprised when you learn that some other person has beaten you to your goal by putting into action ahead of you, the plans of which you talked unwisely.
“One sound idea is all that one needs to achieve success.” –Napolean Hill
Successful people have the habit of making decisions quickly and then changing these decisions slowly, if at all. People who fail to reach their goal have the habit of making decisions slowly and then changing them quickly and often. Make decisions through your own desire; do not be influenced by the opinions of others. If you need information from other people to render your decision, secure the information quietly without giving away the purpose. The value of decisions depends upon the courage required to render them.

“Dreams are not born of indifference, laziness or lack of ambition.” –Napolean Hill
One of the main causes of failure is a lack of persistence. You may overcome this weakness through effort and intensity of desire. Will power is the basis of persistence; increasing your will or desire will help to strengthen your persistence. Additionally, you can train yourself to be persistent by focusing on causes such as your defined purpose, self-reliance, organized plans, accurate knowledge, cooperation and habits. It is imperative to master your weaknesses and develop persistence in order to begin to realize your fortune.

“An educated man is one who has so developed the faculties of his mind that he may acquire anything he wants, or its equivalent, without violating the rights of others.” –Napolean Hill
Constant persistence helps to turn definite plans, backed by definite desires, into riches. Persistence is not reliant on education or intelligence and requires only a little bit of time and effort. There are 4 simple but necessary steps that will develop persistence: 1. A stated purpose, backed by burning desire; 2. A definite plan, expressed in continuous action; 3. A mind closed against criticism and discouragement; 4. A friendly alliance with at least one person who will encourage you to follow through with your plans. Persistence should become a habit.

“The majority of people who fail to accumulate money sufficient for their needs are, generally, easily influenced by the opinions of others.” –Napolean Hill

It is essential to steer away from destructive emotions such as jealousy, which destroy your sense of justice and fair play. The constructive emotions of love, romance and sex may raise an individual to genius stature when all three are combined and properly developed, controlled and used. Because the mind thrives on dominating thoughts, it is necessary to encourage the presence of these constructive emotions and discourage the presence of these destructive emotions. This is accomplished through will power and control of mind. You can change a negative emotion into a positive one merely by changing your thoughts.
“You cannot entirely control your subconscious mind, but you can voluntarily hand over to it any plan, desire or purpose which you wish transformed into concrete form.” –Napolean Hill
The subconscious mind is a store-house of impressions, senses and thoughts, which can be called upon to translate desires into tangible objects. The subconscious acts first on those desires that have been mixed with emotional feelings such as faith. You cannot completely control your subconscious mind, but you can learn to guide and influence it. Because the subconscious acts on and processes the impulses around it, it is necessary to shut out the negative influences around you and only allow positive impulses of thought to enter the subconscious mind. Achieving this level of control will help unlock the door to your subconscious.
“Power may be defined as ‘organized and intelligently directed knowledge.’” –Napolean Hill
Because the subconscious mind is more susceptible to thought impulses mixed with emotions, than those originating by reason, it is necessary to recognize those emotions that will have positive influence on your subconscious and those that will have a negative influence. Positive emotions include: desire, love, faith, sex (as transformed from physical to creative), enthusiasm, hope and romance. Negative emotions include: fear, jealousy, hatred, revenge, greed, superstition and anger. In order to gain constructive help from your subconscious mind, it is necessary to ban any negative emotion from entering your consciousness. Instead, focus on filling your mind with positive emotions.

“There comes to your aid, and to do your bidding, with development of sixth sense, a ‘guardian angel’ who will open to you at all times the door to temple of wisdom.” –Napolean Hill
One of the best things to being great is imitating those who are great, through feeling and action, as nearly as possible. By practicing this hero worship, you may reshape your character to take on those character traits most admired in your hero, as well as tap into the power that those traits carry with them. Studying the ways that others achieve greatness and reap riches is an invaluable tool in your own pursuit of your goal. Remember: Intelligent followers can also become great leaders.
