Stratified / mixed random sampling

In this method the universe is divided into homogenous and equal sample is drawn from each layer at random.

Systematic or quasi random sampling
|
This is used when a complete list of the population is available in order eg alphabetical order.

Judgement sampling/purposive/deliberate sampling

It is non random ampling which is done on the basis of convenience and judgement of the investigator.

Quota sampling
|
Interviewers are alloted definite quotas of the universe and they are required to interview a certain number from their quota.

Convenience sampling

In this method universe is selected purely on the basis of convenience.
