Birth Rate
The number of live births per 1000 population in a year. If the birth rate is 20/1000, it means that for every 1000 people in the country, there are 20 births in a year.
Death Rate
The number of deaths per 1000 population in a year.
Replacement Level Fertility
Each woman in a country needs to have 2.1 children in order for the country's population to replace itself in the long term. Many MEDCs are below this.
Dependency ratio
The relationship between the working/economically active population and the non-working population.
Sex ratio
The number of males per 100 females in a population
