Phrasikleia 540 BC Attica marble, quintessential mid 6th c Kore funerary marker. inscribed: the marker of Phrasikleia. Forever shall i be called "maiden" (kore), the gods having granted me this instead of marriage. Aristion of Paros made it. She has an archaic smile and a lotus crown and was painted. sena=sign (of divinity, kept in tomb so they can inhabit it, a vehicle for the spirit), it is talking, animate. presentification=making something absent present.

Peplos Kore from Athens 530 BC Old fashioned, Parian Marblematronly clothes, not fashionable. (Athena?) curls, softer facial features than Phrasikleia (general transition to less angular forms) . 3/4 of strands over shoulder is a late kore attribute. Her face is like Anavyssos Kouros. pierced ears.

Antenor Kore (Kore 681) 520 BCDedicated by Nearchos, signed by Antenor as artist. elevated base. lifts chiton to show leg contour (left fwd?) sculptors respected, but Nearchos was a potter of ambiguous status. dedicated it from the first fruits to Athena. aparche=first fruits... get $, make dedication to god. shows means not religiosity, a status symbol. at least 400 of these on the Acropolis. Metal stick on head for helmet of Athena?

Moscophoros (calfbearer) from Athens 560 BC marble a variation of a kouros, going to Acropolis to sacrifice the calf (votive dedication) -offering holding an offering, eternal. schematic revealing drapery, signalled, but not naturally present.

Rampin Rider, Athenian Acropolis 550 BC riding horse, head slightly turned, looks like NY but with short hair. Traditional small waist and torso and 2D anatomy debated id, diascuroi? celery wreath=victor of isthmian or Nemean games? another kouros variation.
