What does the 91 stand for?
What does the S stand for?
What does the 75 stand for?
What does the R stand for?
Load index or 1356Lbs
Speed rating S- Up to 112mph
Aspect Ratio
Tire Construction - "R"
The "R" in this example indicates radial
tire construction.
Load index means what?
The load index refers to the load-carrying
capacity of a tire, or how much weight a
tire can support. For example, if a tire has
a load index of 89, it can support 1,279
pounds (from below chart) at maximum
air pressure. Multiply that by four (4 x
1,279 = 5,116 pounds) to get your
maximum load-carrying capacity. It is not
recommended to install tires with a lower
load carrying capacity than what came on
your car from the factory.
Speed rating means?
A tire receives its speed rating from the U.S. Government by meeting minimum standards for reaching and sustaining a specified speed. In general, a higher speed rating will result in better vehicle handling. See our speed rating page for more information and a list of the various speed ratings.
Aspect Ratio means?
This number refers to the height of the sidewall. It is a percentage of the section width. In this example, 65 percent of the section width of 205mm equals 133.25.
Tire construction means?
The "R" in this example indicates radial tire construction.
In a UTQG rating of 420 A B, what does the 420 stand for? The A and the B?
Well the UTQG stands for The US Government has established the UTQG, the Uniform Tire Quality Grading, to assist consumers in their purchase of tires. The 420 stands for Treadwear grade. The A and the B mean traction grades
Traction grading means what?
Traction grades represent the tire's ability to stop on wet pavement as measured under controlled conditions on asphalt and concrete test surfaces.
Temperature grades means what?
Temperature grades represent a tire's resistance to heat and its ability to dissipate heat when tested under controlled laboratory test conditions.
Radial Ply tires are tires that ?
One or 2 but go from bead to bead, also tires construction where the cords in the body run at 90 degrees to the center of the tread.
The bias ply tires?
Layers cross each other.
Plus sizing means what
Plus sizing is one of the easiest ways to achieve enhanced performance and improve the appearance of your vehicle. Converting to a plus one size would mean increasing the wheel diameter by one inch (16x7.5)
Dynamic balance mean?
Dynamic Imbalance:
Occurs when there is unequal weight on one or both sides of the tire/wheel assembly's lateral centerline, thus creating a side-to-side wobble or wheel shimmy. Balance in motion. The balance of a wheel while it is rotating. a condition in which a tire and wheel assemble has weight distributed equally on both sides of the wheel's axis of rotation. |
Aspect ratio?
2 or 3 digit number: The "aspect ratio" of the sidewall height to the total width of the tire, as a percentage. If this is missing, it is assumed to be 82%. If the number is larger than 200, then this is the diameter of the entire tire in millimeters.
Plus sizing refers to
Increasing the wheel diameter and decreasing the aspect ratio.
