What is the premise that faith and reason are not mutually exclusive?
We cannot see the full essence of God but we can see his effects in the world around us.
How does our reason lead us to God?
Through observing the world around us and using our reason, we can know that God exists.
How are faith and reason related?
Reason leads us to God. But reason only takes us so far. Faith allows us to know him and believe in him.
What are the 3 kinds of truth?
1) Scientific knowledge 2) Philosophical truth 3) Theological truth
What is scientific truth?
Knowledge by experiments of observation.
What is philosophical truth?
Something known by using human reason.
What is theological truth?
Something only known by faith.
What are the proofs for the existence of God?
1) From Motion 2) From Causality 3) From Possibility 4) From Imperfection 5) From Design
What is proof from Motion?
God is the first mover, who began the chain of motion. For something to move, it needs a mover, which is God.
What is proof from Causality?
There had to be a cause to have an effect. People and things are effects.
What is proof from Possibility?
Everything depends on something else, but there has to be an independent being who is self-evident and necessary.
What is proof from Imperfection?
The absolute standard of perfection is God.
What is proof from Design?
Intelligent design requires an intelligent designer.
