Superficial Pectoral Muscles
Descending and Ascending

Attached to the Crest of the Greater Tubercle on the Humerus and the first two Sternebrae
To adduct limb when not bearing weight and to keep from abducting when bearing weight

Deep Pectorals
|
Attached to the lesser tubercle of the humerus and aponeurosis to the greater tubercle
When limb is fixed - to pull trunk cranially and extend shoulder joint.
When not fixed - to draw limb caudally, flex the shoulder and adduct the limb

Brachiocephalicus

Attached to the distal end of the cranial border of the humerus and the mastoid part of the temporal bone
To advance limb, extend shoulder joint and draw neck from side to side

Sternocephalicus
|
Attached to the first sternebra, mastoid part of the temporal bone, nuchal crest of the occipital bone
To draw neck from side to side
|
Sternohyoideus
|
First costal cartilage and the first sternebra
To draw tongue and larynx caudally
|
Sternothyroideus
|
First costal cartilage and the thyroid cartilage
To draw tongue and larynx caudally
|
Omotransversarius
|
Attached to the distal end of the spine of the scapula and transverse wing of the atlas
To advance the limb or flex neck laterally
The superficial cervical node is under this

Trapezius
|
Attached to the spine of the scapula
To elevate and adduct the forelimb
|
Rhomboideus
|
Attached to the spinous process of the first seven vertebrae and the dorsal border of the scapula
To elevate limb and draw scapula against trunk
|
Latissimus dorsi
|
Attached to a muscular attachment to the last two and three ribs and the Teres major tuberosity of the humerus
To draw limb caudally and to flex the shoulder joint
|
Serratus ventalis cervicis and thoracis
|
First seven or eight ribs and the dorsal medial third of the scapula - the serrated face
To support truck and to depress the scapula
