OPQRST
|
Description of present illness: Onset, Provocation, Quality, Radiation, Severity, Time

Reassessment
|
Detecting changes in a pt's condition. involves repeating primary assessment, repeating and recording vitals, repeating the physical exam, checking interventions
|
Trending
|
Changes in a pts condition over time such as slowing resp. or rising pulse. may show improvement or deterioration, and that can be shown by documenting repeated assessments
|
Respiratory distress
|
Increased work of breathing; a sensation of shortness of breath
|
Respiratory failure
|
The reduction of breathing to the point were O2 intake is not sufficient to support life
|
Respiratory arrest
|
When breathing completely stops

Airway
|
Passageway by which air enters or leaves the body; the structures: nose, mouth, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs

Stoma
|
Permanent surgical opening in the neck thru which pt breaths

FROPVD
|
Flow-restricted, O2-powered ventilation device; device uses O2 under pressure to deliver artifical ventilations w/ trigger placed so rescuer can operate while using both hands to maintain seal

ATV
|
Automatic transport ventilator; device provides positive pressure vent. settings designed to adjust ventilation rate and volume, is portable and easily carried on ambulance
