What is the definition of diffusion ?
Diffusion is the passive overall movement of particles from a region of their higher concentration to a region of their lower concentration.
What is an example of diffusion ?
When plants photosynthesis they use up co2 from the atmosphere and produce o2. This gases pass in and out of plant leaves by diffusion.
What is osmosis ?
Osmosis is the overall movement of water from a dilute to a more concentrated solution through a partially permeable membrane.
What is a partially permeable membrane ?
Is just a membrane that only allows certain substances to diffuse through. For example it normally only lets small molecules like water through and acts like a barrier to larger molecules like sucrose. The concentrated solution of sucrose becomes more dilute as the water tries to even out the concentration.
What is the definition of active transport ?
Active transport is the overall movement of chemicals across a cell membrane from a region lower concentrad to a region of higher concentration (the gradiant of movement is opposite to diffusion) using energy released by respiration.
