Cranial Nerves

Cranial Nerve (I) Sense of smell.

Cranial Nerve (III) motor fibers to the inferior oblique (IO) and superior (SR), Inferior (IR), and medial rectus muscles(MR).

Cranial Nerve (II) Carries impulses for vision.

Cranial Nerve (IV) Provides motor fibers to the superior oblique muscle (SO).

Cranial Nerve (V) Conducts sensory impulses from the skin of the face and anterior scalp, also contains motor fibers that activate the chewing muscles.

Cranial Nerve (VI)Carries motor fibers to the lateral rectus muscle of the eye.

Cranial Nerve (VII)Supplies motor fibers to the muscles of facial expression and to lacrimal and salivary glands, and carries sensory fibers from the taste receptors.

Cranial Nerve (VIII) Transmits impulses for senses equilibrium and hearing.

Cranial Nerve (IX) Spit, Swallow and Gag reflex.

Cranial Nerve (X) Motor fibers to the Pharynx and Larynx and sensory fibers to the same structures, also supplies parasympathetic motor fibers that supply the heart and smooth muscles of the abdominal and visceral organs.

Cranial Nerve (XI) Provides motor fibers to the Sternocleidomastoid and Trapezius muscle

Cranial Nerve (XII) Motor fibers serve the muscles of the tongue and sensory fibers carry impulses from the tongue.
