3 components of appriasial
1. primary appraisal (estimating the strength of the stressor)
2. secondary appraisal (estimating the resources and coping options for responding to the stressor)
3. reappraisal (changing perceptions of the stressors intensity, identifying unrecognized resources, or finding meaning in the situation
