CNA Hand Washing

This is the full set of hand washing instructions according to the Wisconsin Nursing Aide Candidate Handbook.  
Bold steps are critical steps.  Missing one of these will result in failing the entire exam.

Knock on the door and slowly enter.

Address patient by name and introduce self, "[Greeting], my name is Jonas, and I am your Nursing Assistant."

Turns on water at sink.

Wets hands and wrists thoroughly.

Applies soap to hands.
HW 6
Lathers all surfaces of wrists, hands and fingers, producing friction for at least 15 seconds. (sing the ABCs slowly in your head)

Cleans fingernails by rubbing fingertips against the palm of the opposite hand.

After lathering for at least 15 seconds, rinses all surfaces of wrists, hands and fingers keeping hands lower than the elbows and the fingers tips down.
HW 9
Uses, clean dry paper towel to dry all surfaces of hands, wrists and fingers then disposes of paper towel into waste container. Switch towel in hands as little as possible.
HW 10
Uses clean, dry paper towel to turn off faucet, then disposes of paper towel into waste container. Don't switch towel in hands.
HW 11
Does not touch inside of sink at any time.
