Anetworking feature in OS that enables DHCP clients to self configure an IP address and subnet mask automatically when a DHCP server isnt availible

Acomponete of TCP/IP that allows computers to discover and recieve an IP addresss from a DHCP server prior to to booting the OS. Other items that are discoverable during the BOOTP process are IP adress of the default gateway for the subnet and the IP addresses of any Name servers
