Define Kinesiology

The study of the principles of anatomy (active and passive structures) physiology and mechanics in relation to human movement.

What is STRUCTURAL Kinesiology?

The study of muscles, bones and joints as they are involved in the science of movement.

What position is the most widely used and accurate for all aspects of the body?
|
Anatomical position - which shows subject standing upright, facing straight ahead, feet parallel and close and palms forward.

What is the Fundamental Position?
|
Same as the Anatomical postion, only arms are at side and palms are facing the body.

Mid-Axillary line
|
A line running vertically down the surface of the body passing through the apex of the axilla (armpit).

Anterior Axillary line
|
A line that is parallel to the mid-axillary line and passes through the anterior axillary skinfold.
|
Posterior Axillary line
|
A line that is parallel to the mid-axillary line and passes through the posterior axillary skinfold.
