Drawing conclusions from related pieces of evidence and previous experience with the evidence. Formulating patterns of information before reaching a Dx. Example, seeing that a pt has lost appetite and has had wt loss.

What is diagnostic reasoning?
|
Analytical process to determine a pt's problem. For example, the nurse sees a pt who is light headed and blurred vision, hx of dm. An example of diagnostic reasoning is forming a nursing Dx. Uses data that you gather to logically recognize the problem. Ex: turining a pt and seeing redness on right hip, touching it etc.
