|

Benefit Period

Begins on the first day of services as a patient in a hospital of skilled nursing facility and ends 60 days after discharge, provided that the 60 days has not been interrupted by skilled care in any other facility.

ABN

Advanced Beneficiary Notice: Notice that a patient must sign if Medicare deems a service 'not medically necessary'. It must be signed prior to the service being rendered. If it is not signed, the provider cannot bill the patient for that service.
