I am the powerhouse of the cell. I produce the energy the cell needs.
Mitochondria
I am the trash collector for the animal cell. I keep the cell clean by breaking down waste.
Lysosomes
I maintain the perimeter of the plant cell, like a fence, by providing structure and shape.
Cell wall
I am very large in the plant cell. I store much needed water and nutrients.
Vacuole
I'm much like a green solar panel. I use the sun to create energy for the plant cell.
Chloroplasts
I am a gel-like substance that holds all of the organelles in the cell.
Cytoplasm
Without me, the cytoplasm would be flat! I hold up the cytoplasm similar to framing a new house or building.
Cytoskeleton
I am the control center--the main boss--in the cell. I direct the cell's activities.
Nucleus
I'm found in the nucleus. My job is to make ribosomes for the cell.
Nucleolus
I'm found in the nucleus. I look like tiny strands of rope. I carry the genetic material, DNA, needed for cells to replicate.
Chromosomes
I'm like a gatekeeper. I decide what passes in and out of the cell.
Cell membrane
I'm a transport system consisting of many pathways. I transport material throughout the cell.
Endoplasmic Reticulum
I'm a go-getter! I am constantly producing proteins. I'm found in several places in the cell--in the cytoplasm, on the rough ER, and in the nucleolus.
Ribosomes
I'm only found in animal cells. I am very important when the cell is ready to divide.
Centrioles
I'm constantly receiving materials that need to be packaged and then sent back through the cell or out of the cell.
