What is Purberd?
Organism breed only in the same species over and over.
What is a hybrid?
Heterozygous usually referring to the offspring of two true-breeding (homozygous) individuals deffering in the traits of interest.
What is genes?
A hereditary unit consisting of a sequence of DNA.
What are alleles?
The different forms of genes.
What is recessive?
The opposit of dominant. A trait that is preferentially masked.
What is F1 generation?
Offspring of a cross between true breeding plants.
What is F2 generation?
Offspring of a cross involving the F1 generation.
What is phenotype?
The physical appearence of an organism with respect to a trait.
What is genotype?
The specific genetic makeup of an organism
What is homozygous?
Both alleles for a trait are the same in an individual.
What is heterozygous?
Differing alleles for a trait in an individual, such as Yy.
What is a gamete?
Mature reproductive cell
What is a punnett square used for?
To determine the probability of an offspring having a particular genotype.
