me my name is Ryan Cooper and on behalf of Adam and Gina, I would like to thank you for attending this wonderful occasion this evening… |
I have the honor of acting as Adam’s Best Man tonight, and am thrilled that I am with these two wonderful people as they begin this new chapter in their lives. it is my great honor, my great pleasure to stand before you today and tell you about this man. Not only is he my friend, but I love Adam Landa, as if he were my brother.

When Adam asked me to be his best man, I naturally had many questions. What had I done to be given such an honor? Had someone else refused - or had all his other friends left the country? And, more important than all of those, could I myself refuse and still get an invitation to consume loads of free alcohol? It was a risk I was unwilling to take.

No, but truthfully, when Adam did ask me to be his best man today, part of me was honored, part of me was terrified, but mostly I was laughing on the inside that he’s finally admitting what we’ve known all along… that I am, in fact, better than him.

Adam specifically asked me to refrain from mentioning any of his past girlfriends during this speech. So sadly, that cut the speech short by a good 15 seconds, but he's the man of the day, and I respected his wishes.

They say a good best man speech is
like a MINI SKIRT …… SHORT enough to be interesting but LONG enough to cover the ESSENTIALS… So here it goes……… |

I have known Adam for just under just under 20 yrs… We officially met when we worked together at Vons in Rancho Bernardo. When I first started working there, I only knew one person… so everyday for my first week or so was a little weird not having too many people to socialize with.
|
I can still remember bagging groceries 2 or 3 check stands away from Adam and noticing him watching me out of the corner of his eyes…he could have been sizing me up, or maybe he was checking me out… who knows? Adam had this uncanny ability to keep his head forward and still be able to see at a perfect 90 degrees to him in either direction. This would later be known as Adam’s Devil Eyes!

After that first week of figuring each other out, we pretty much became inseparable… We could be seen wandering down the aisles of the store, playing pranks on each other and all along stocking the shelves so we wouldn’t get into trouble. We could push the limit of fun, while still excelling at our jobs. We even had a secret spot in the store above dairy deli where we would watch everyone from. One manager named Carla, who would often ask us if we were attached at the hip.

We would often try and switch our lunch times together so that we could jump in his old camaro, which came complete with a smoke option and go to lunch. For those of you that don’t know what the “smoke option” is, let me explain. It sounds like something you might have seen on one of James Bonds cars… but really, it consisted of smoke coming up through the center console of his car.

The smoke quantity was directly related to how fast he was going. You might get a light haze at 20-25mph, but at freeway speeds, we looked like something you would see in a cheech and chong movie driving down the road… Breathing all that smoke, may have had some influence on me becoming a fire fighter… So Adam, thank you.

Over the years, Adam has proven to be the best friend a guy could have. In that time, he has proven himself to be not only a great friend, but also, a truly good man as well.

Adam has been my close friend for
many years now. He is level-headed, bright, and with a genuine love for life, Adam is truly an inspiration. From his contagious laugh to his drunk-looking smirk he gets when something amuses him, he is always uplifting. |
Now, I may not be the oldest, and
I am definitely not the wisest here, but I have learned this: friends this good are truly hard to come by and I could ask for nothing more in a friend than Adam unselfishly provides. |

While Adam and I are dear friends,
I feel very lucky to call Gina my friend as well; I know my friendship with both of them will continue for many years to come. |
Gina, you have so many wonderful qualities that it would be impossible to fit them all in to this speech… but to name a few, you are a warm, kind, generous person. You are always fun to be around and today you always look absolutely beautiful, especially today.
One important thing I do know about Gina is that she has made Adam happier then I have ever seen him. I don’t want to go on too long, but really quick I do have some advice for Adam and Gina. |

Gina - from now on, you should never argue or disagree with Adam, because he is now the head of the family and the king of his castle.
You will be expected to keep your hair and makeup perfect at all times - to dress in a way that pleases Adam. You should cook his favorite meals every night and encourage him to go out with his friends on a regular basis. Do these simple things and your marriage will be blessed with many years of happiness. Also Gina - I know that Adam loves you very much... because he spent a long time writing this portion of the speech for me. |
Adam- All I can say is… Always
remember these 3 little words...."you're right Gina". I know I speak for all of us here tonight when I say that our lives are made better by having you two a part of them. I value my friendship with Adam and I look forward to having the same great friendship with his lovely new bride Gina. |
