I read Because Of Winn Dixie by Kate DiCamillo.
This book was published by Scholastic® in New York.
The Level of difficulty was Just Right because there were not too many hard words and I could understand the text.
On a scale from 0 being very easy to 10 being very hard, for me, this book would be about a 7 or 8. This book is Realistic Fiction because even though even though it is not a true story it could have easily happened in real life.

India Opal is a girl who just moved to a new town in Florida and is lonely. Her father (the preacher) sends her to Winn Dixie, a supermarket, to get groceries, but comes back with a homeless dog. She wants to name the dog Winn Dixie, after the store she discovered him in. India asks her father to keep him and he agrees.
Over the course of the next few months, India and Winn Dixie make many new friends, such as Ms. Franny Block, Otis & Gertrude, Gloria Dump, Sweetie Pie Thomas, Amanda Wilkinson and Dunlap & Stevie Newberry. They planned to have a party but something frightening happens… read the book to find out!
I liked this book because it is an entertaining story with a good message and I enjoyed the characters. I liked the characters because they seemed nice and fun.
I would have been friends with the characters in real life for these reasons. It is a funny, exciting book. I never wanted to put it down.
The authors’ message is to never doubt and to try to make the best of what you have.
Even though India Opal moved from Watley where all of her friends lived, she made the best of what she had and made tons of new friends.
I recommend this book for grades 3-6 because the story is too intense for younger kids but once you are in 7th grade it will be too easy and you will want to read a more challenging book
. I would also recommend this book for teachers to read to their first or second grade students.
