Concerned the effect of the Tariff of 1828 on South Carolina and the efforts by that state to nullify the tariff ---> they were put down by soldiers ordered by AJ

AJ set a high tariff for the states, which angered South Carolina ----> they want to nullify it

leads to Henry Clay trying to propose a compromise in 1832, where the tariff would be raised slowly over 10 years

In response to SC protesting for the nullification of the Tariff of 1828, where AJ ordered troops to force them to comply with the tariff
