Where does digestion begin in ruminants and monogastrics?
Mouth

Ruminants do not have front upper teeth- they have a fleshy dental pad on the top of their mouth

Mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine (made up of the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum), large intestine (also called the colon), rectum (actuall still part of the large intestine), anus
Name two parts of a chicken's alimentary canal that are not in the human or cow?
The crop (also called the ingulvies- it softens food before it goes to the stomach) the gizzard (also called the ventriculus- it uses rocks to grind food further after the food comes out of the stomach)

Methane
List three animals that have a monogastric digestive system
Human, horse, pig, dog, cat, etc.
What is the function of bile? Where is it made? Where is it stored?
Bile is a greenish liquid made in the liver and stored in the gall bladder. It is used to help digest fats in the diet
Which compartment of the ruminant stomach is considered the true stomach and why?
The abomasum is the true stomach because it has acid and digestive juices needed for chemical digestion
In which part of the alimentary canal is water absorbed?
The large intestine (colon)
