What are the levels of the salivary duct system?
1. intercalated duct2. striated duct3. interlobular duct4. main duct
Myoepithelial cells
Help to squeeze the ducts
Islet cells of Pancreas
- endocrine functionAlpha cell - glucagonBeta cell- insultinDelta cell- somatostatinGastrin goes into stomach to ^ HClPancreatic polypeptide inhibits EXOCRINE
Acinar Cells of Pancreas
Secrete digestive enzymes. Exocrine function. Alkaline fluid is released due to SECRETIN (^ bicarbonate in duodonem)
CCK
Used to ^enzymes from Acinar cells of the pancreas
Secretin
Increase bicarbonate solution
Means to stimulate pancreas
1. CCK2. Secretin3. Blood sugar levels4. Autonomic Nerve System - Parasympathetic
Kupffer Cells
Inside sinusoids. Function as APCells - macrophages.
Subgroups of Epidermis
1. Stratum Corneum2. Stratum Lucidum3. Stratum Granulosum4. Stratum Spinosum5. Stratum Basale
Stratum Corneum
Mostly squamos, keratinized, get sluffed often, no nucleus
Stratum Lucidum
Only in thick skin, no nucleus
Stratum granulosum
Flattened, nucleated, in layers, many granuoles, membrane coating present (like waterproofing) Also only in thick skin
Sratum Spinosum
Pickle Cells (spiney- spinosum). Spiney because of the desmosomes that connect the cells.- Also has Langerhaans cells, which are dendritic/macrophages the are APC
Sratum basale
Deepest layer. Single layer of tall cuboital keratinocytes. Constantly mitotically active.2 types of cells in basale:Melanocytes and Merkel cells (respond to touch)
Dermis
Papilary layer: gives fingerprints, has capillary loops. Also has Meisner's corpusules (fine touch, two point)Reticular layer: dense and sensory receptors. Free nerve endings. Roots of hair follicles go here. Erector pili muscle is also here.
